Modular Building: Smarter, Greener, Faster
Today’s buyers are looking for energy-efficient, affordable homes. In the age of skyrocketing energy prices, homeowners want to live in houses that conserve energy. In addition to saving money, they’re also doing their part to protect the environment and keep the planet healthy for future generations.
On the other side of the equation, today’s builders are looking to reduce their costs as much as possible, particularly while confronting an uncertain economic future. To protect their bottom lines, builders need projects to be wrapped up as quickly as possible. This also allows them to sell more properties over the course of a year.
To satisfy all of these needs, many buyers and builders are turning toward modular home construction. It’s faster and less expensive, and it’s considerably more environmentally friendly compared to traditional building methods.
Greener construction. In addition to help ensure the planet remains enjoyable for generations to come, it’s important that we do our parts to eliminate as much waste from our lives, both personally and professionally. Modular building is considerably more efficient than traditional methods, allowing construction companies to build with confidence.
With modular building:
- 77 percent report reduced waste at the construction site
- 44 percent say that the waste was reduced by at least 5 percent
For a 10,000 square foot facility, that translates into a reduction of a staggering 2,170 pounds of waste.
Faster project completion rates. The faster you finish one job, the quicker you can move on to the next. Among those that use modular building:
- 66 percent say they see a decrease in project schedules
- 35 percent say those schedules have decreased by at least four weeks
Reduced costs. Since modular homes are built in factory-controlled conditions, you won’t have to worry about encountering any of the typical unforeseen hurdles that might pop up during traditional construction. As a result of using modular building:
- 65 percent of companies reported decreased construction expenses
- 41 percent of those budgets went down by at least 6 percent
Modular building is smart construction. You won’t have to incur any on-site delays due to inclement weather, and you won’t have to run into any unpredictable shortages of materials when you’re trying to get the job done.
These luxuries translate into significant cost savings which would-be buyers will undoubtedly enjoy. They want a home that’s comfortable, well built and energy efficient, and modular building helps ensure that’s the case every time.
